AIR6500
AIR6500 Phase 1 Joint Air Battle Management System (JABMS) will form the core architecture of the future ADF Integrated Air and Missile Defence (IAMD) capability to improve the accuracy and speed of ADF systems’ response to air and missile threats in the future (2025+,) in order to protect deployed forces whilst increasing levels of interoperability with Coalition partners. JABMS will ensure that future ADF IAMD capabilities will have the flexibility for further enhancement to handle more complex threats that may emerge in the future.
The JABMS capability will include Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence (C4I) systems, data fusion and network capabilities, active and passive sensor suites, and will better connect the communications, sensors and targeting systems of various ADF platforms so that they can better combine their capabilities, generating greater potency and lethality.
The JABMS will provide sensing, deciding and acting functions that enhance fusion and sharing of surveillance and intelligence information across all warfare domains to support management of the air battle and electro-magnetic spectrum, coordination of joint fires and control of and ground based air defence assets. To ensure timely responses against emerging threats, the JABMS will provide levels of automation and improved decision support tools that will improve the accuracy and speed of tactical processes.
As a core component of the ADF’s IAMD capability, JABMS will integrate with all other ADF IAMD capabilities, to provide a robust layered air and missile defence system. This capability will allow the ADF to boast enhanced joint force protection, increased combat effectiveness and lethality of other weapons platforms, and contribute to decision superiority in the future complex battle-space.
